THE FUNNY SIDE OF A STROKE – 2014 OFFICIAL SELECTION!

TheFunnySideofaStroke

Ted Waltmire, a musical theater enthusiast and skilled pianist, suffered a stroke in 2009 that left him limited use of the left side of his body and unable to play the music he loved. After struggling for months to adjust to his new post-stroke life he discovered improv comedy classes at Second City. The classes became a unique for of therapy for Ted, opening his mind to new experiences he hadn’t had even before the stroke.
Eventually he was inspired to write his own musical comedy show, stemming from sketches he wrote for class, about his post-stroke journey. He pitched the show idea to Second City and was awarded a five week run of shows. After five sell out performances, now Ted looks to continue his recovery by moving the show on to bigger and better venues in the Chicagoland area and beyond.
